Well thank you for the introduction. I am happy to be on this podcast and I am super glad to be sharing my journey with you all.
Yeah, so I first went to the Himalayas when I was just ten and it was a summer break when I went hiking there. It was the first time that I was seeing snow and the whole landscape. It just amazed me so much that I kept going there every summer and as soon as I was 18, I started volunteering with organizations in Peru. And there I got to know that if you do certain courses, you get paid. And that's how I started doing courses. And after that now, I teach courses. So, it's been quite a journey, quite a challenging journey and full of struggles.
Melissa Perkins
Ishani, so why has it been challenging? Tell us a little bit about that.
Ishani Sawant
Yeah, so in India or in any country for that matter like taking up, rock climbing as a full-time profession is super risky for the parents or even for yourself because you can't expect to make a lot of money especially when you have a professional degree like law, and you're all set to become a lawyer and earn a lot. So that change was very hard to make. But when I started out, I didn't have anything. I didn't have access to gear. I didn't have access to anything to be honest. I am a female in a very male dominated culture at that time. So, it was very, very hard to actually go out and do climbing. But now, because of technology and because it is much easier to access everything this journey has become much easier.......
Self Help Addict / Founder / Mum / Animal & Nature Lover
A self help addict. I like to see the good in everyone, even when most can't. I am always learning something new, about myself or the world. I have a special love for all animals (my dog, my cat, my sheep, my alpaca and cows). I feel most connected when I am in the water or in nature.
Founder / Supply Chain Expert / Mom / Wife
Katie, a former collegiate softball player and long time sales and supply chain leader. For Katie, the unfulfilled yearning was knowing that she was not living her true life calling. A deep desire to live a life of service and to truly raise up individuals, families and communities - is what drives her. By actively participating in everyday life with them, being present not just physically, but by sharing those little moments that are truly precious and so meaningful. ‘’I know that living authentically is the most powerful thing I can do for myself”, says Katie.
